Claim your profileHi, I’m Zoe — a journalist with a deep love for people, place, and the stories that connect them.I graduated from Denison University in 2023 with a BA in Journalism — though that wasn’t always the plan. I entered college studying psychology and neuroscience, and only made the switch to journalism during my senior year. It was late, unconventional, and exactly what I needed. Because at the heart of both disciplines is the same question: Why do people do what they do?Since graduating, I’ve been reporting for the Sierra Sun and Tahoe Daily Tribune, covering the vibrant and complicated life of Truckee, California. Small-town journalism is everything people say it is — challenging, intimate, real. I’ve covered breaking news, dug into local politics, and sat in living rooms with strangers who, for a moment, trusted me with their truth. But I found myself wanting more — more time to think, more tools, and a deeper understanding of how to tell stories that matter. So this fall, I’m heading to UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. What drives me is uncovering raw, unfiltered stories — the kind that reveal something previously unseen, or unspoken. I’m especially drawn to narratives that give people a voice, particularly those often left unheard. My background in psychology informs how I interview, listen, and write — always with empathy, always with curiosity.Whether I’m reporting, guiding a tour (as I did during undergrad), or just sitting down with someone for 30 minutes, I believe deeply in the power of presence — that something meaningful can always be found in a conversation, if you’re paying close enough attention.
