I have led and coordinated large teams of international journalists brought together short-term from around the world to cover international conferences on the environment and other issues. I have spoken at and moderated panel discussions of university leaders in Asia and the Pacific Rim. At University World News I set up a network of over a dozen correspondents in Asia from scratch, and continue to manage that network as commissioning editor, as well as writing about China's higher education and science sector. I have a particular interest in global education, science policy, international trade, and developing countries with extensive experience in Asia, Africa, Central America and Europe. Now in London but previously based in Geneva, Brussels (twice), Costa Rica & Nicaragua, Hong Kong & China, Berlin, and New Delhi for major newspapers. Correspondent for The Daily Telegraph, The Sydney Morning Herald, Times Educational Supplement and a regular contributor to The Scotsman, Far Eastern Economic Review, South China Morning Post, The Guardian, Daily Telegraph etc. As a science writer for EU-CORDIS, the New Scientist, Nature Index and SciDev (Science and Development Network), And writing about developing countries and China for Inter Press Service, University World News, the BBC, Radio Deutsche Welle, and had many articles and columns syndicated extensively around the world. I am a regular contributor to the BBC's Knowledge Economy series, writing about China and Asia.Books: The Buffalo Thief (novel) published 1999. French edition - Les Jardins de Mardpur. Working on a sequel. Co-Author: Television in India, Perspectives and Opportunities in a Changing Environment (1996), also co-Authored an EU study on the Indian Film Industry and EU Cooperation. I have also been a consultant to the European Union on India. I have written over 100 articles for the EU's CORDIS website on Horizon 2020 projects, covering all fields of cutting-edge science, making them accessible for a general audience, undertaken work for the European Environment Agency. Many Book reviews (Indian and Chinese authors)I have a global perspective on economic, geopolitical, environment, higher education, science policy issues but able to connect easily with grass-roots activists and experts to provide distinctive, engaging and enlightening examples from around the world, often in the most unusual places.
