Claim your profileAs a staff writer for the Chesapeake Bay Journal, I cover how people interact with their local environment across the multi-state watershed. I've written about the return of dolphins and the water quality conundrums posed by coal ash and microplastics. My freelance work has appeared nationally in The Washington Post, NPR, National Geographic, Smithsonian Magazine and Civil Eats and in regional publications such as Virginia Living, Northern Virginia and Arlington magazines and the Delmarva Farmer. I have served as guest editor for Edible DC’s fall 2018 and summer 2016 issues. In recent years, I've devoted my extra bandwidth to writing a book about the loss of my mother. We Shall All Be Changed: How Facing Death with Loved Ones Transforms Us was released by Moody Publishers in early 2024 and is now available anywhere books are sold.See some of my recent journalism work at whitneypipkin.com and follow the book at whitneykpipkin.com.
