Claim your profileHi there....I'm Wes Hohenstein, chief meteorologist in Raleigh, NC for CBS 17. I've been walking people through their daily forecast in central North Carolina for more than a decade and explaining weather at the green screen for 20 years. That includes the forecast every night and leading the newsroom through disruptive weather events, but it also means reaching our viewers with the forecast and potential life saving information wherever they might be...on our app, social media, the web and even text alerts. I get to speak to thousands of students each year in their classroom, sharing the science of weather and the fun of TV. Our weather team leads the way for our station community outreach with a daily 3-Degree Guarantee Forecast segment, where we highlight a different charity each month and donate money to help them keep doing great work in our community based on getting the forecast correct. The forecast challenge includes a story I'm lucky enough to tell each month about the charity that focuses on a personal story of someone helped by the organization. When not at the green screen, I take a daily news story with a science theme and turn them into great stories that run in the newscast and in 30 minute weather specials.
