Vishnu Som is NDTV's Executive Editor.An award winning television journalist with more than 28 years experience anchoring prime time national news, Vishnu is widely networked with media leaders, influencers, business/corporate heads and political visionaries and leaders across party lines. Vishnu has conducted one-on-one interviews with international leaders such as President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, US Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry, Secretary of Defence Ashton Carter, Bill Gates, and Henry Kissinger among others. He has anchored global sessions of the World Economic Forum at Davos.Has been closely involved in writing for, creating video content and disseminating news on NDTV's digital portal, ndtv.com. Understands the critical role the internet plays in the process of modern-day news proliferation. Is able to assess and gauge the multiplier effect of New Media and the responsibility content creators and aggregators must practise.Has been part of teams which have planned, designed and broadcast some of of NDTV's most prominent campaigns - the Save the Tiger campaign, the Diageo- NDTV Road to Safety campaign and the Fortis-NDTV More to Give (Organ Donation) campaign.Has produced more than 50 documentaries for NDTV and leads editorial teams, producers, graphics designers and video editors who work on news programmes that he anchors. Vishnu has been embedded in war zones covering the Ukraine, Kargil, Afghanistan, Congo and Iraq conflicts. He was the only Indian journalist in Sendai during the Japan tsunami, the first reporter to enter the 2001 Bhuj earthquake disaster zone and the first to report from Great Nicobar during the Indian Ocean tsunami. Vishnu anchors the prime time show Left, Right and Centre at 9 pm among other programmes and has close to 8000 hours of live broadcast experience. His work has been recognised both in India and abroad through awards including the Ramnath Goenka Award, the Commonwealth Broadcasting Award and the Indian Telly awards. Vishnu has a personal interest in aviation, cricket and is a certified scuba diver
