Over the past decade, I've established myself as one of the hardest working, prolific, and well-respected print and broadcast journalists in Canada. I've been employed by Exclaim! and CBC Radio in editorial leadership roles, managing freelance staff and nurturing great writers with inventive ideas. In my own work, I’ve covered a broad and eclectic range of genres, styles and cultural mediums (music, films, books, television, comedy, sports) and am very active on social media.I’ve had news stories picked up by Pitchfork, Spin, the AV Club, NME, and wire services and I’m a prominent member of this country’s music community, having been invited to be an MC, performer, and reviewer at festivals from Dawson City to St. John’s. My connections to musicians, their fans, record labels, and publicists are deep and strong and I know how this industry works from multiple perspectives (I have toured this continent in bands, helped curate festivals, attended awards shows and conferences, and of course, written about all of it). I was also right in the midst of the shift from print to online journalism and have become really adept at navigating emerging social media vehicles. I’m known as an ardent promoter of content and kind of love trying to find specific and general audiences for the music I’m covering. I want people to know about things, particularly if I think they’ll find it interesting, and I pride myself on spreading the word about cool stuff. In summary, I’ve established myself as a tireless, ultra-organized tastemaker with strong writing, interviewing, and editing skills, experience with web-based mediums and audio and video editing, and a limitless love of music. It’s been my whole life since I was five years old, when I first heard a Beatles tape my cousin had. It’s this unique blend of skills, passion, and experience that makes me an asset to any working environment.
