Writer, entrepreneur, editor, and photographer. In 2014, I founded NEXTpittsburgh, an online publication focused on the people and ideas moving the region forward. In the last year that I owned it, it reached more than 2.1 million unique visitors. I sold it in late December, 2020 and I'm now part-time as the editor and occasional photographer for the New Americans, a new series of stories giving voice to immigrants in the Pittsburgh region. All stories are available to media in the region at no charge. I'm on several boards including The Pittsburgh Foundation, the Pittsburgh Glass Center and Film Pittsburgh, and I serve on a strategic engagement committee of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. I also volunteer at Literacy Pittsburgh. Along the way, I'm documenting my travels through writing and photography. So far: 50 states, 48 countries and 7 Habitat for Humanity builds, from Chile (my first) to Thailand (my most recent). Next February I'll set foot on my seventh continent, Antarctica. I bought a beast of a telephoto lens in anticipation. Stay tuned.
