I’m a Senior Journalist at BBC Newsround with experience in TV, radio, online and social media. I have presented live radio programmes and podcasts for the BBC and other outlets, have won industry recognised awards for radio production and produced and directed long form video content for Newsround. My journalism has also been featured on BBC Radio 4's Today, BBC Breakfast, 5Live, BBC News Channel, BBC TV News, Radio 1 Newsbeat, and the BBC News website's front page.Specialist interests of mine include historical journalism, finding new ways to retell the story of significant events. I recently produced, directed and edited a short film about the Chernobyl disaster. https://youtu.be/FtfkOAL7K7M I care a lot about making news relevant and accessible for young audiences, which is something I have developed further while at Newsround. I also worked on an initiative within local radio to reinvent the BBC’s strategy around content targeted towards younger and underserved audiences. I self-shoot and edit films and radio, and was previously a broadcast journalist at the BBC in Cumbria and also BBC 5Live. I’ve covered several General Elections, live reporting in 2015, 2017 and managing an online live web page in 2019, more recently i produced and directed content around the 2020 US election and 2021 inauguration for Newsround. My writing has been published by the Guardian, Daily Mail, The Independent and British Comedy Guide. My filmed work has also been used by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme.
