Claim your profileMy title is sports writer but really I'm a communications professional who has gained multiple skills over my two decades of experience. Writing. Editing. Project Management. Supervising others. Photography. Videography. I've done it all for 20 years since I graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in journalism and stepped into the professional world. What I really do is far more than just serve as a writer. I plan, all the time. I coordinate schedules and budgets and freelance writers. I look at the calendar and figure out what big stories and big events are coming on the horizon, and decide how those should be covered. I collaborate with other writers and editors in different cities around the United States and sometimes around the world. And when that planning or project management is done, I might write a few stories a day, produce a video package, edit the work of a freelance writer and catch an event my son or daughter might have going on. So yes, I'm a writer; an AP Sports Writer to be exact. But my skills go far beyond just typing words on a screen and my title of "only" writing about sports.
