I stumbled onto visual storytelling after venturing to SIU-Carbondale for zoology. The Daily Egyptian, SIU's student-run newspaper, gave me the opportunity to experience nearly every newsroom position - reporter, photographer, videographer, photo editor as well as editor in chief, with some graphic, web and page design sprinkled in. I continued on to a staff photographer position at the Daily Journal in 2014, where I'm now the photo editor and sole staff photographer (and sometimes writer, copyeditor and social media assistant) at the small, community newspaper near where I grew up. In April 2019, I stepped into the role of Director of Photography for the Small Newspaper Group's magazine - Lifestyles of Kankakee County. My love for storytelling has grown every day and I feel privileged to document the very community I live in.
