sydney.bishop@cnn.com I'm a journalist and writer based in Atlanta and a proud University of Georgia graduate. I have had a passion for writing and reading for as long as I can remember, and this zest for telling stories makes its way into everything I do. As a kid, I did everything from attending writing summer camps for fun to reciting the National Geographic almanacs to anyone who would listen. So to say, I was born with a love of storytelling and a thirst for knowledge. I spent most of my time during undergrad writing and editing personal narratives, features, event coverage, Q&As, and profiles as a member of the staff at The Red & Black, an independent news organization in Athens. I also wrote for The Oglethorpe Echo, the only news source in Oglethorpe County. Overall, I amassed over 40 bylines during my time at UGA. I balanced my tremendous workload all while working part-time in the food service industry. I'm a curious, extremely hardworking individual and writer who prides myself on never missing a deadline, fact-checking my work, editing the piece until it is perfect, and learning something new each time I complete a story. My special interests are pop culture, literature, comedic writing, poetry, radio, podcasting, entertainment journalism, film, musical theatre, social justice, and mental health advocacy. I'm always keeping a pulse on current events, authors’ and journalists’ new works, and the world around me by reading and subscribing to news and media organizations as well as being an active social media user. One thing I love is to work in groups and collaborate with fellow creatives. I seek a setting where I can use my vast knowledge and experience in storytelling to make a difference.
