Claim your profileI've been News Editor and Site Administrator for Eastleigh News - an independent hyperlocal news website for Eastleigh since 2009. The site focusses on community news, local government and politics During 2023, the site received 1.6 million page views with 375,000 unique page views from 234,000 unique visitors.During the 2010 general election I was a local campaign reporter for politics.co.uk and I have reported from court for The Justice Gap. I have a Pitman certificate in Teeline shorthand which I have worked up to a useful speed.Between 2010 - 2024 I have covered six parliamentary elections, numerous local elections and budgets including a live webcast from College Green, Westminster. As a consequence I have produced news packages featuring the leading political figures of the day, up to and including the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.As a freelance journalist and photographer I have a contributor account with several news outlets and I have contributed to The Times, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Sun, The Press Association and ITN News - I have also supplied source material to BBC TV's 'Have I got News for You'. I have a First Class Honours degree in Journalism from Winchester University and am accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council. While at University I was Chief Reporter for our local news website 'Winchester News Online' and was nominated for 'Best Radio News Item" in the 2014 BJTC awards and "Best TV News Item" in 2015. In 2018 I completed a Research MSc in Film and TV at the University of Portsmouth and my theses explored TV audience perceptions of the Criminal Justice System.In 2019 I obtained a Master Degree in History from the University of Winchester - for my theses I researched news reporting on the Ceefax and Teletext services between 1980 - 1990. As part of my university studies I have had training in media law by former BBC staff and always strive to be compliant with BBC editorial guidelines.I have also been trained in the use of Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer editing suites.My main areas of interest are hyperlocalism, politics and local government.I am a member of the British Association of Journalists and hold a full UK press card.
