I previously worked in Latin America for The New York Times as Brazil Bureau Chief and Andean Bureau Chief. I'm a recipient of the Maria Moors Cabot Prize for my reporting on Latin America. While at The New York Times, I have also worked as a National Correspondent covering the Southwest, based in Albuquerque, and as international energy correspondent, based in Houston. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, I was hired by The Times in 1999 in São Paulo to cover Brazil's economy.
