Claim your profileShweta Taneja (she/her) is an author, journalist and social impact leader with global experience in fundraising, communications and deploying strategic programs in nonprofits & social impact startups. She's highly creative, imaginative and builds optimistic, motivated resilient teams. Currently she heads global partnerships at Locus Science Fiction Foundation, a literary foundation based in Oakland (USA). She's an Advisor to Buzz Women, a non-profit working on empowering rural women across Europe, Asia, and Africa. She's the Silicon Valley correspondent for Hindustan Times. Her column ‘Seeing Silicon’ covers the technology industry in the San Francisco Bay Area and how it shapes our modern society. When not working, she’s a hiker, a biker and a birdwatcher. Current interests: Philanthropy trends in Asia, data decolonisation, effective strategies in biodiversity conservation using communications as a tool, climate storytelling, equal access to biotechnology, how to drive political awareness in rural women. __________________________________ Author Life She writes science & fiction for kids and adults. In the last 15 years, she has published eight books and many short stories, been nominated for a prestigious French award (Grand Prix de l’Imaginaire), received the Charles Wallace Writing Fellowship in the UK and given talks at global forums including WorldCon, Eurocon & Comics Museum. Two international movie producers have optioned the film rights of two of her novels. Her non-fiction book on modern science, ‘They Made What? They Found What?’ has won multiple awards and remains a bestseller in the Indian subcontinent. Update 2025: Currently she's working on a Bollywood-inspired space opera and a children's book on ecology for World Wildlife Fund. She's open to collaborations with human artists to work on weird and twisted graphic novels.
