Claim your profileSawyer is an investigative reporter for the Bangor Daily News’ Maine Focus team. A graduate of the University of Vermont, during his senior year Sawyer was the Editor-in-Chief of the Vermont Cynic, the University of Vermont's independent, student-run newspaper. During the summer of 2020, he was a Reporter with VTDigger, a leading digital, daily non-profit newsroom in Vermont. At VTDigger, Sawyer served as a general assignment writer, tracking down and reporting on stories across the state. Most of his work was focused on daily stories, but he also worked on enterprise content and longer-term projects. During the summer of 2019, he was an intern/staff writer for at the Burlington Free Press. At the Free Press Sawyer experimented with different types of multimedia story packages as well as fine-tuning his skills behind the camera as well as reporting and writing. He worked on daily news stories and enterprise stories. During the Spring Semester of 2019, Sawyer was the Newsroom Intern at Vermont Public Radio. At VPR he worked on gathering and creating content for daily newscasts, production work for All Things Considered and general assignment work. Sawyer devoted a large chunk his free time while at the University of Vermont to work for the student-run newspaper the Vermont Cynic. He was the Editor-in-Chief and was in charge of planning and executing a vision for the Cynic. He also oversaw the daily management of the organization's editorial staff, content as well as the finances. Before becoming the Editor-in-Chief Sawyer was the News and Sports Editor, Assistant Breaking News Editor, a Senior Staff Writer, Summer Editor and Multimedia Reporter for the Cynic.
