Claim your profileI'm a senior reporter at Mother Jones and the Center for Investigative Reporting, and I write mostly about the criminal justice system. My work has won a National Magazine Award, our industry's version of an Oscar, and has been featured in the "Best American Magazine Writing" anthology. Prior to joining Mother Jones, I worked as a journalist in Indonesia and Myanmar. I attended Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, where I graduated as valedictorian.
