Claim your profileI moved to Maine in 2019 to join The Maine Monitor as its first full-time reporter through Report for America. Our small, nonprofit newsroom tells important stories about Maine people that shine a light on legislative, policy and budget decisions. In 2020, I led a multi-part investigation into the state's floundering public defense system as part of the ProPublica Local Reporting Network. My series "Defenseless" was a finalist for a 2021 Livingston Award in Local Reporting and received an Honorable Mention for best investigative journalism in the INN medium size newsroom division. In 2022, I published the investigation "Eavesdropping in Maine Jails" that detailed how county jails had recorded nearly 1,000 attorney-client phone calls and shared some of those confidential conversations with police or prosecutors before peoples' trials. My reporting continues.
