Claim your profileMy name is Rushdi Abu Alouf. I started my journey as a journalist in 1998, starting as a volunteer at the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds. As the new millennium dawned, I recognised the shift towards visual journalism and moved to work on a local production company. In January 2002, I joined the BBC during a year marked by many significant events.Throughout my career, I have covered many historical events, including the biggest Israeli Operation "Defensive Shield" in the West Bank, the siege and passing of the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005, Hamas' victory in the parliamentary elections, internal Palestinian conflicts or the mini civil war, and the series of wars between Hamas and Israel in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the recent conflict that erupted following Hamas attacks on October 7th.With 26 years of experience in media and journalism, I have honed my skills in reporting, producing, team leadership, and office management. In a region rife with conflicts, it is crucial for a journalist to remain impartial and professional. Despite the challenges of being in the midst of these events, I strive to uphold these principles and ensure that the focus remains on the stories.
