Claim your profilePrivileged to be CEO and Editor-in-Chief at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the UK’s largest independent investigative newsroom ~ delivering award-winning, impact-led, global public interest journalism. I am a highly experienced c-suite leader with a portfolio of digital, business and operational transformation, award-winning journalism and multi-platform delivery for local, national and international audiences. I ran the UK’s largest network newsroom outside of London for the BBC, overseeing coverage of the EU referendum & Brexit, two UK elections as well as the election of Donald Trump & the terror attacks in London and Manchester Arena. My role incorporated everything from setting a distinctive creative calendar, delivering a relevant and inclusive current affairs offer and overseeing all of BBC 5Live's News output, including political and business programming as well as a 24-7 breaking news operation. I am a highly creative commissioner ~ with an award-winning digital slate, including the podcasts Brexitcast, You, Me & The Big C, Sista Collective and Hope High. I launched the DigiHub for the BBC World Service, developing and innovating global journalism for digital, social and online platforms across multiple geographies including Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Americas and Europe. I also ran and scaled BBC News Instagram, leading and growing its short form content strategy and delivery. On a national scale, I launched the Digital Pilots team, a BBC News and BBC Audio collaboration, the aim of which was to tell the stories of younger northern women across BBC News, BBC Radio, BBC Sounds and BBC Three. I’m an entrepreneurial leader passionate about reimagining journalism and with a track record of audience growth through innovation, transformation and strategic partnerships. I bring Board experience including as former Chair at Leeds Playhouse and at Gravercentret, Denmark’s centre for investigative journalism.
