I'm a British-Australian multimedia journalist contracted to work exclusively for the U.S. news site Axios as a reporter and editor, focused on breaking news and trending stories. Working at Axios, I've developed a particular passion for reporting on climate and extreme weather stories and have enjoyed breaking down complex climate stories in features that general news readers can understand and resonate with. Previously, I reported on and edited stories for news organisations including the Guardian, HuffPost, Al Jazeera and News Corporation and have extensive experience in international news. My passion for news has never waned and I completed dual NCTJ broadcast and multimedia journalism diplomas in 2017 to enhance my degree, with the College of Media and Publishing awarding me a distinction. I love editing audio and video as much as I do copy. I'm competent in Adobe Premier Elements, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition and Audacity and use the skills I learned on the NCTJ diploma course to produce videos for my husband's phone charging station company, ChargedAs, in my spare time. I'm equally passionate about writing and am proud to have helped shine a global spotlight on underreported stories. I've conducted investigations for the Guardian on migrant worker abuse and produced a series of multimedia reports on Spain's baby trafficking scandal for Radio X EU. I strive to create shareable content that connects with readers on stories that matter and endeavor to use analytics to help me better understand and engage with audiences. My experience as a journalism trainer and tutor, along with my qualification to teach English as a foreign language, shows I’m a word nerd with a keen eye for grammar details, house style and accuracy. Most of all, I’m an all-round newshound and feel lucky that I’ve made a career out of my passion and ended up working for such an exciting, supportive company like Axios.
