I'm a digitally-focused journalist with a talent for finding compelling stories that hook online audiences, break news and drive millions of page views to major news sites. I combine two essential skills: knowing how to identify and execute substantive news stories and knowing how to present those stories in a way that engages digital audiences. During my time on the Washington Post's general assignment desk I was one of the top read writers at the paper for multiple years running, racking up hundreds of millions of page views with smart angles, compelling headlines and lively, engaging writing. These days, my stories are regularly picked up by Apple News and shared widely on social media. I operate like a one-man band, producing written, photographic and video content when I report. My work has taken me from city council meetings to conflict zones. I've reported for The Washington Post from Afghanistan, Iraq and all over the U.S., covering breaking news and news features during major hurricanes, mass shootings and protests. I also spent a year working as a journalist in Pakistan. My work has been published in the Washington Post, New York Times, Huffington Post, Newsday, NY Post, Columbia Journalism Review, Texas Monthly, the Houston Chronicle, the San Antonio Express-News and Texas Monthly.
