About

I am primarily a writer, and have authored more than 40 books and 10 study guides. I also have substantial experience in editing, over-writing and proofreading — and have outstanding research skills. I currently contribute regularly to Cerkl Broadcast and Lemberg Law websites, writing about internal communications and lemon law, respectively. I grew up on newspapers, working my way through the newsroom, woman's pages, courts, often focusing on investigative journalism (The Natal Mercury, Sunday Tribune, Rand Daily Mail and Sunday Express). I matured on magazines, specifically writing about babies and families (Living & Loving), people and crafts (Your Family), and homes and gardens (Garden & Home). As a freelance writer I turned to non-fiction books (including a number of coffee table books about homes, landscaping, and horses, the most successful being Owner Building in South Africa, which is still in print). For several years I concentrated on writing more academic titles, including a number of titles for South Africa's Further Education & Training (FET) Colleges, all related to construction and building and published by Pearson Publishing. I also wrote a number of study guides for Intec College and for College SA, two of the leading long-distance colleges in this country. I have published one children's book, Tales of a Toothmouse. My husband, Janek Szymanowski, and I have published a number of guides, magazines and books over the years - including a few of our own and several for other authors. He has illustrated all my books photographically - and provided drawings for many of them. More recently we have been publishing websites and producing digital non-fiction books.
