Her fearless pursuit of accountability, and her level analysis and live reporting during significant breaking news events have garnered numerous awards for CTV News over the past decade.In 2024 she won a Jack Webster Award for excellence in healthcare reporting, recognizing her in-depth coverage of the deterioration of British Columbia’s healthcare system.Now a multi-media journalist who shoots and edits most of the stories she writes and produces in video and written formats, Penny also created, hosted, and produced the CTV News network's first original podcast, BTS with CTV News Vancouver, which offered an unfiltered and compelling account of what it takes to get TV stories on the air for its 60-episode run. Her notable career moments include: flying an F-18 Super Hornet, reporting on Vancouver's transformation for the the 2010 Winter Olympics, filing dispatches from the ground as the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot erupted around her on the streets of Vancouver, breaking details of the Legislature Spending Scandal in 2018, being one of the most prominent face for election coverage at all levels of government, and telling stories that truly stick in viewers' minds.
