He previously covered European banks and asset managers for the FT in London.Owen has authored two books on the back of his reporting on the downfall of fund manager Neil Woodford and the rise of activist investors. His book on the Woodford scandal, Built on a Lie, was published by Penguin in spring 2021. His first book, Barbarians in the Boardroom, was published in 2016.His reporting on the collapses of Credit Suisse and Woodford Investment Management contributed to a string of awards, including business and finance team of the year at the 2019 Society of Editors’ Press Awards, London Press Club business journalist of the year in 2020, a Society of American Business Editors and Writers award in 2021 and the Gerald Loeb Award for Breaking News in 2024.
