Claim your profileOlivia grew up in Louisville, Kentucky where she spent most of her childhood playing sports and writing stories. She was fortunate to be able to follow both of these passions to the University of Missouri School of Journalism where she was a four-year athlete on the varsity Track and Field Team, throwing hammer and weight, and majored in print and digital journalism. During her time at Mizzou, Olivia practiced her writing craft in a multitude of styles from magazine to business journal to daily newspaper, eventually finding her love for business and policy reporting. Following graduation in May 2022, Olivia headed home to work for the Courier Journal, a Pulitzer Prize winning daily newspaper, as a business reporter. Louisville is a bustling business town with major employers like Humana, UPS, Ford, Yum! Brands, Texas Roadhouse, Churchill Downs and many more calling the city home. In her first year of reporting, Olivia found herself at the epicenter of national news as the Teamsters union and UPS faced off in tense contract negotiations. Ultimately, Olivia was able to take the national lead on this coverage and was the first reporter in the world to report a contract had tentatively been agreed to. Shortly after this labor coverage, Olivia was once again wrapped up in national news, covering the UAW and Ford negotiations and a historic strike at Ford’s most profitable plant, the Kentucky Truck Plant. When not working on major labor coverage, Olivia spent time doing enterprise work around the cannabis industry, workforce and industry shortages, business policy and impacts to Kentuckians, among other things. Olivia’s innate and quick ability to build a beat has been evident in her early career leading to several scoops and exclusives. When Olivia isn’t hustling for the next story, she can be found fishing and appreciating Kentucky nature, enjoying a cup of locally made coffee while reading a good book, playing trivia at local events, returning to her former athlete status on recreational kickball and volleyball teams or just enjoying a quiet night in with friends.
