Claim your profile25+ years experience as a writer, editor and production editor. Spent eight years at Future Publishing (1994-2002) working on a variety of titles from ST Format to PC Answers via Cult TV. Worked as Disk Editor, Features, Editor, Production Editor, Deputy Editor and finally Editor. Since going freelance in January 2003 I have expanded the number of titles I've written for or worked on to over 45, with work published worldwide for numerous publishing houses. Titles include Computeractive, PC Answers, Microsoft Windows, MacFormat, iPad User Magazine, Linux Format, Your Family Tree, BBC Countryfile, BBC Who Do You Think You Are? and Blues News (Birmingham City FC). I have also written for a number of tech-based websites, including Live-Smart, MSN UK, CNET UK, Advent Computers, TechRadar.com, Sandstrom Style and Softwarecrew.com. I have also worked on numerous corporate and advertorial projects for a range of clients, including Vodafone, ASUS, Dell, Microsoft, Nissan, Experian, and DSG Retail. I also translate a range of foreign-language titles into English for the UK and US markets. Work covers entire magazine cycle from machine-translation, editing/fact-checking and fitting content back to original InDesign pages to uploading/downloading pages to client's system and liaising with client's production staff and editorial. Titles include Bringing History to Life, Inside History Collection, Eat More Greens, and Bringing Science to Life. Specialities: I specialise in writing good, clean copy in plain, accessible English, but also have extensive experience as a sub, production editor and editor. Average around 400 pages of copy per year, so both prolific and reliable. I have also provided reader-centric technical support for a range of magazines from 2003 to the present day, including PC Answers, Laptop Magazine, Microsoft Windows XP (UK and Australian Editions) and Windows 7 Help & Advice. I make an effort to contact as many readers directly as possible to ensure all solutions provided both work and are tested before being published. One recent comment: “Thanks very much Nick for the efficient and practical way with which my query was answered in plain English, which means so much to a senior citizen like myself with still a lot to learn about computers.” Selected editor comments: "Our readers find your style very clear and accessible." "Fast, efficient, clean and on time." "You've certainly made my working life a lot easier."
