Claim your profileMurray Brewster is an Ottawa-based correspondent for CBC News. He spent 15 months in Afghanistan during the five year combat mission. His book, The Savage War: The Untold Battles of Afghanistan, was published in Fall 2011 by John Wiley and Sons.Throughout his long career, Murray has covered a number of disasters, including Parliament Hill. He was among the first Canadian journalists into New York following the 9/11 attacks and was on the scene for the London train bombings of 2005. Hurricanes also became a bit of a specialty for few years. He has lectured on media studies and taught journalism research at the university level. Murray has won 11 national Radio and Television News Director Awards, two Atlantic Journalism Awards; was a finalist (1989) in the Michener Awards for public service in journalism and a finalist in the National Newspaper Awards (2010) for beat reporting. He has also received the Ross Munro Award for defence writing.
