Claim your profileFrom a life-altering ice storm in the Upstate of South Carolina to tracking tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Helene, my passion for meteorology is deeply rooted in understanding how weather impacts our lives. As a meteorologist at WJBF NewsChannel 6 in Augusta, GA, I bring that passion to every forecast, striving to make complex weather data accessible and, most importantly, actionable for our viewers. My journey has taken me from the Midwest to the Southeast, providing me with a diverse range of experience in severe weather coverage. While serving as a weekend meteorologist and reporter at WXOW News 19 in La Crosse, WI, and filling in at WQOW News 18 in Eau Claire, WI, I honed my skills in broadcasting and storytelling, particularly during critical weather events. A career highlight was providing over an hour of wall-to-wall coverage during the tornado threat from Hurricane Helene's rain bands, guiding viewers through safety protocols and leveraging social media to disseminate crucial updates, significantly expanding our digital audience. My academic foundation, built on a geography degree from the University of South Carolina and advanced meteorological studies at Mississippi State University, where I researched the Saharan Air Layer's influence on tropical cyclones, provides the scientific underpinning to my work. This, combined with practical experience gained during my internship at KNBC Los Angeles – covering high-profile events like the COVID-19 pandemic, wildfires, and earthquakes, and interviewing local entrepreneurs – has equipped me with a comprehensive skillset.Beyond the studio, I'm an FAA-certified Part 107 drone pilot, always eager to capture unique perspectives of the weather and our world. I'm also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, fishing, and skiing whenever I get the chance.I'm always looking to connect with fellow weather enthusiasts, journalists, and anyone interested in learning more about the fascinating world of meteorology. Feel free to reach out – let's discuss how we can better communicate the power and impact of weather to our communities.
