Previously, I was a freelance reporter and writer for various outlets, focusing on higher education and workforce development. In 2020 and 2019 my reporting had appeared in The Washington Post, Inside Higher Ed, PBS, Christian Science Monitor, The 74, The Hechinger Report, US News, Education Dive and AARP. From February 2017 to February 2019, I reported on higher education and charter-school affairs in the state of California for the news outlet EdSource. I have also been a contributing writer for The Atlantic and The Hechinger Report, covering both K-12 and higher-ed issues. Previously I was a program manager at the Education Writers Association, where I led data-training services for reporters and wrote explainers about key topics in education.
