Claim your profileWYSO-FM is the local National Public Radio affiliate in the Dayton, Ohio area. I am the local host for National Public Radio's Morning Edition news program. Reading live copy and providing live local news, weather and traffic conditions while live engineering the program are the responsibilities of this position. I was a substitute host from 2006 to 2019, when I was hired as the permanent host. Producing two-way feature stories is another aspect of the job. I also assist the Operations Director with the technical aspects of the station. I have worked with, and volunteered for, WYSO since 1987.I'm a 30+ year veteran of the video production industry, specifically in local cable television channels.The City of Beavercreek, Ohio operates its own local cable TV channel called Beavercreek Television. I have managed this operation fulltime since 1996, and on a part-time basis from 2014 to 2021. BTV televises City Council, Planning Commission, Zoning Appeals Board, and Parks Advisory board meetings. Local events are videotaped and televised on the channel, as well as other educational programming. I was the only staff member dedicated to this operation.Other previous assignments in video production include: Assistant Video Engineer, Video Production Assistant, and Assistant Volunteer Coordinator at Miami Valley Communications Council, a consortium of local governments in the South Dayton, Ohio area that operates four local cable TV channels, and provides media services and municipal training to local governments. Duties include troubleshoot and repair issues with video acquisition and distribution equipment and install new equipment as well as computer hardware and software, teach video production classes to volunteers include video acquisition and editing, and multi-camera studio production, produce and direct a volunteer-staffed community newscast Production Assistant at Dayton Access Television, a local cable television access channel serving Dayton, Ohio. Responsibilities included teaching basic field video production and post-production to volunteers who will contribute content to DATV's channel, assisting those volunteers with their videos, programming the Channel's automated playback system, and other video production duties.
