She became the Herald’s health reporter in 2023.She recently won second place in the 73rd annual Green Eyeshade Awards for her consumer-focused healthcare stories and was part of the team of reporters who won a 2022 Pulitzer Prize For Breaking News in the Herald’s coverage of the Surfside condo collapse.Named the “Best Herald Reporter” in 2021 by Miami New Times, Michelle was one of 57 emerging journalists selected to be part of the 2020-2021 Poynter-Koch Media and Journalism Fellowship. Michelle is also the co-creator of Curious305, Miami Herald's community-powered reporting series.Michelle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a specialization in broadcast journalism, a minor in English and a film studies certificate.
