Claim your profileI believe that a society or community needs to be informed to maintain a fair democracy, especially at the local news level. It is a journalist's job to engage with the reader and tell them fact-based new information, as well as listen to them and cover what they think is important. I'm curious about all subjects and all types of media. I particularly enjoy writing feature stories or investigations related to education, technology, health, business or that answer a larger question about some aspect of a local area. I am also interested in web design and data journalism. The modality of web and digital journalism is ever-evolving, and I enjoy playing around with its functionality to make it more accessible to the reader. I have experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, SQLite, Microsoft Access and Python. I am a proud Wisconsin native, but I spent seven years in the Chicagoland/northern Illinois area. In my free time, I love to jam out to soul and funk music, take photos, try to cook something new, go on exploratory walks and check out thrift and antique shops.
