Claim your profileMegan Thompson is a journalist apart of KNXV - ABC15 Mornings as a Traffic & News Anchor in Phoenix, Arizona. She helped her team receive the 2022 Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for best Morning Newscast. She serves as the leader of the Operation Safe Roads franchise. Her role is specifically geared toward the community’s road concerns, from wrong-way drivers to deadly pedestrian crashes.Megan anchors the 4:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. broadcasts and conducts traffic reports on ABC15 Mornings. Megan is also trained as a weather forecaster. She was honored at the 2020 Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards with two nominations and one win in the Weather News Story category. She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication. She also holds a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from ASU, as well as a minor in Communications. She was given the honor of being the Student Speaker at her Cronkite Convocation when she accepted her diploma in May of 2015.During her time at ASU, she anchored and reported for the award-winning ‘Cronkite News’ airing on PBS Arizona 8 HD. She spent more than two years with the program and has been recognized nationally for her work. She spent nearly three years working as an intern at KPNX, the NBC-affiliate in Phoenix. She was responsible for producing either the 4:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. newscasts by herself. In October of 2016, Megan won a Student Production Award in the Southwest Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards for 'Talent' for her work at ASU. In April of 2016, Megan was awarded 1st place in the nation in the Television News Anchor category in the 2015-2016 Student News Broadcast Education Association Awards. She also holds the 2015 First Place title for the National Hearst Journalism Awards in the Television category. She also won 'Best Use of Television for News Coverage,' during the June 2015 competition, as well.Megan took home a 2015 Student Production Awards from the Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards Southwest Chapter in the News: General Assignment category. Megan spent roughly one year working in Tucson, Arizona as a multimedia journalist right out of college. She transferred to KNXV in July of 2016.She married her college sweetheart in March of 2020. Megan is a new mom to her son, Diego. She is also a dog mom to her rescue pup, Henry.
