Maura Barrett (she/her) has reported from 40 states and 3 countries, driven by stories that break down how policy impacts people, most recently covering environmental policy & climate adaptations, reproductive rights, and the politicization of LGBTQ+ issues. Maura produces her strongest work when assigned to a beat, having specialized in politics, business and technology. She’s a Curve Foundation Emerging Journalist Fellow, and a Gracies Award Winner, along with several national award nominations. With ten years of national network news experience as both a correspondent and producer, Maura is a deft writer when it comes to scripts and articles, can produce live events and shows, and is confident both on-air and in front of an audience or lecture hall. In between assignments, she likes to travel to immerse herself in nature, likely on the ski slopes or underwater scuba diving. She currently calls Chicago home, after pit stops in Boston, Paris, New York, Des Moines, and Philadelphia. There, she’s likely trying a new design at the pottery studio, cheering on her fiancée at a spoken word show, or taking their dog for a run by the lake.
