Claim your profileI am the Executive Editor of The Washington Post, overseeing the entire newsroom. Later this year, I will launch a new initiative there as we restructure to create a future-focused, digital newsroom to pursue new products, audiences, story formats and topics with an eye on growth. I previously was Editor in Chief at The Wall Street Journal, where I led a 1,300-person newsroom and oversaw the editorial strategy and operations of one of the world's most trusted and influential news brands. During my tenure, The Journal doubled its digital traffic and subscriptions, and achieved record growth in video and audio audiences as we expanded on all platforms. We won multiple awards, including two Pulitzers and our first-ever Emmy and partnered to produce shows on Netflix and Apple. In recent years I have worn several other hats, including as a consultant, advisor and investor. I have a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University, where I also earned my bachelor's degree. I serve on the Medill advisory board there and on the board of the Livingston Awards, and have served on multiple boards including the Loebs and the Committee to Protect Journalists. I am passionate about the value of news in a changing world, and excited by new opportunities, companies, formats and innovations, despite the very real challenges facing the industry.
