Now, I combine journalism with media development and communications consultancy. My work as a trainer has taken me around the globe, supporting journalists to shine a light on unheard voices and stories that locals have a right to know. I support storytellers and technicians in places like Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Kosovo, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Algeria. It's all about promoting a free and fair media that audiences want to connect with. I also teach journalism at Falmouth University, making sure students have fun along the way. As a content creator, I make podcasts and films for a wide range of clients. Recent films include a piece about pharmaceutical pollution for Exeter University, and productions in Addis Ababa and Tbilisi to showcase media aid work. Podcasts include a series speaking to teenage refugees around the world for the Overseas Development Institute, and episodes for the University of Essex exploring solutions to problems like climate change and migration. I was formerly a senior journalist at BBC News, working in the BBC World Newsroom and around the globe. As a reporter I covered international feature stories as a shoot-edit. As a producer I worked with the BBC’s top correspondents in places like Afghanistan and events such as the G7. I continue to freelance for the BBC, making pieces for Radio 4 and BBC Breakfast.As a communications consultant I help people speak with confidence and connect with their audiences. This includes interview training and content creation.
