Our investigation with The Washington Post brought to light how a national liver transplant policy helps states like New York and California at the expense of seven states -- all but one in the South and Midwest -- and Puerto Rico. We also revealed how a group of health executives engineered the change through a lawsuit, lobbying, letters to federal health officials, proposed Congressional legislation, and internal policymaking.My prior work has prompted an investigation by the Florida Attorney General’s office, highlighted a state-sanctioned loan program saddling homeowners with significant debt, and showed that Florida's largest power company was among the deadliest for customers.
