Claim your profileLorraine Boissoneault is a multi-disciplinary journalist who works in print, digital, and video. Currently at work on a nonfiction book for Beacon Press, she previously worked for the digital side of Smithsonian Magazine. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Playboy, The Atlantic, Pacific Standard, Believer Magazine, Hakai, Nautilus, MentalFloss, Salon, Chicago Magazine, JSTOR Daily, Weather.com and others. Her first book, The Last Voyageurs, tells the true story of 24 men who canoed 3,300 miles across North America to reenact the Mississippi expedition of La Salle. It was released by Pegasus Books in April 2016 and was a finalist for the 2016 Chicago Book of the Year Award. Pulitzer-nominated writer Samuel Freedman described it as "a contemporary classic in the literature of the vision quest.” Lorraine has received fellowships from the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources and the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Her work has been nominated for numerous awards and featured by NPR and the BBC.
