Claim your profileI write about how governments are addressing climate change and the effects of those policies on communities. I have been a reporter for more than 30 years, half of them covering climate change. I’ve traveled from the peaks of the Himalayas to the bottom of a Chinese coal mine to report about how our warming planet affects vulnerable communities and to understand the economic and political challenges involved in curbing greenhouse gases. Before joining The Times, I was the Washington bureau chief for The Oakland Tribune and The Los Angeles Daily News. I was also the editor of Climatewire, an energy policy publication, and spent eight years there covering international climate issues. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and once started working toward a master’s in journalism at the University of Maryland. Someday, I might finish that thesis. I was born and raised in New Jersey.
