Prior to moving to Boston, Leanna was at WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Virginia for six years. She spent the first three years as the team's go-to MMJ. In 2020, she was called upon to design a new Digital Anchor position, taking the lead on developing WDBJ7's OTT product. In 2018, she returned to the Panhandle to report on the effects of Hurricane Michael, for which she earned an Emmy. Leanna graduated from the University of Florida with honors where she studied Broadcast Journalism, minored in Spanish and worked as a Resident Assistant. Leanna worked at WUFT News as an anchor, reporter and producer for the university’s PBS affiliate TV station and the NPR affiliate radio station, while also occasionally contributing to the independent student newspaper, The Alligator. But Leanna's passion for journalism can be traced back to grade school. She served on her elementary school's morning announcements program. And in her arts-focused middle and high school, Leanna was an active member of the morning news crew and yearbook staff.
