Claim your profileLauren Coleman is a weekday morning anchor for the Good Morning Show at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, NC. She anchors three and a half hours of morning news while also reporting on major issues in the community. Most recently, Lauren anchored WFMY News 2’s 4pm and 5pm newscasts. There, she turned and fronted stories several times a week. Before joining WFMY News 2, Lauren was a morning news anchor and traffic anchor for WHBQ-TV in Memphis, Tennessee. Her work there earned her an award from the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors. She began her journalism career as a multi-skilled journalist and weekend anchor in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at WDAM-TV. Her work there earned her an award with the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters & Media Editors. Lauren graduated from Syracuse University with a master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. She also graduated with a double major in English and African American Studies from the University of Virginia. In 2022, she was named as one of the top 40 Under 40 Most Influential African Americans in the Triad. Lauren is a proud and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Born in Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg, Lauren grew up in an Army family and has lived in several states and overseas. She believes video journalism has the power to educate, spread awareness, and create positive change. She hopes her job as a journalist will help her to be a part of that change.
