Before that, I was a founding reporter at CalMatters, a nonprofit digital news venture that launched in 2015, and a politics reporter for the Sacramento Bee. I was named Journalist of the Year by the Sacramento Press Club in 2021 and was included on the Washington Post's list of outstanding state politics reporters in 2020.Striving every day to do journalism that serves the public interest.
