Claim your profileAs Executive Editor of the Los Angeles Local News Initiative, I'm working to rebuild local journalism by recognizing that news has always flowed through informal networks—the barber shops, online neighborhood platforms, and trusted community voices that keep people informed about what matters where they live. We're strengthening LA's news ecosystem by building neighborhood-level newsrooms and connecting them with regional outlets like LAist and CalMatters and introducing the Documenters program to LA, because the best reporting often comes from within communities themselves. We're identifying people who already serve as community information hubs and giving them tools to expand their reach, while building partnerships between grassroots voices and established media. After years leading content strategy in nonprofit media, I've learned that sustainable local news requires both smart partnerships and deep community roots. We're building both.
