Claim your profileAs a sports editor and reporter at the Mankato Free Press, I have done about everything you can do at a daily newspaper, including writing, copy editing and page design on tight deadline. My editing duties include proofing for grammar, AP style and context, along with writing optimal headlines and ensuring content is posted to our website and social media. I have covered the Minnesota State men's hockey team for four seasons, including two Frozen Fours. In that role, I produce weekly game coverage, features, previews and columns. My role at The Free Press has allowed me to develop the diverse skillset required to thrive as a content creator in today's fast-paced sports media environment. At Inside Edge Scouting Services, I scouted Major League Baseball games for both MLB and media clients. As a baseball operations intern, I gained valuable perspective on different strategies that can be employed both on the field and in the front office. My duties included recording events during live MLB games, and also providing subjective defensive ratings used by MLB teams. Working at Inside Edge showed me the value of analytics, but was also a constant reminder that there are people behind the numbers.I have developed my sports media skills as a sports writer for isportsweb.com, The Record and as the host of "Sizing up the Sports Scene" on KJNB Radio. For isportsweb.com, I wrote columns on the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Gophers men's basketball. For the Record, I covered football, basketball, hockey, baseball, swim and dive, golf, crew, wrestling and soccer. These experiences have allowed me to become a versatile sports writer who can attack stories from different angles.
