Bureau.She spends her days chasing senators in her sneakers, pressing Pentagon officials, following foreign policy at the State Department and watching for news at the White House. Kellie specializes in coverage of the campaign and national security. She covered the 2022 midterms from the TX governor's race to the GA and PA Senate races. She began covering the Pentagon in August 2021 just before the Afghanistan withdrawal. She pressed officials for answers in the briefing room and followed the buildup at the Ukraine border ahead of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. She's stayed on that story ever since. Kellie joins NewsNation from Nexstar’s Washington D.C. Bureau where she covered Congress and the White House with a focus on the southeast for nearly 200 local stations in 116 markets.Prior to Nexstar, Kellie spent 14 months reporting on the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the US Virgin Islands for the CBS affiliate in the US territory.She was the only reporter on the ground for the affiliates and spent her days traveling from island to island as a one-woman news team. Before moving to the USVI, Kellie spent three years working on Capitol Hill as a Washington Correspondent with Gray Television and Lilly Broadcasting, covering issues tailored to the interest of our 60+ local affiliates across the nation. Her exclusive one-on-one interview with then presidential candidate Donald Trump garnered national attention on every network and cable news channel as the only interview Mr. Trump conducted that day.Kellie began her television career in Elmira, New York as a morning show anchor and evening reporter at ABC-CBS affiliate WENY News.
