I'm a New York City reporter, currently working at THE CITY, a non-profit and independent news site.I previously covered City Hall for the Wall Street Journal, working on local and national stories including the COVID-19 pandemic. My reporting on New York City and state's response to the pandemic won a Newswomen's Club Nellie Bly Award for Best Bylined Front Page Story. Before the WSJ, I covered Queens at DNAinfo New York, which was the city's leading online news site. At DNAinfo I reported on everything that is important to the people of the borough -- real estate, crime, politics, features and more. I also covered citywide stories.Some of my notable stories include my coverage of Hurricane Sandy recovery in New York City; a MRSA outbreak at the Fire Academy that forced a change in training; breaking news of the NYC Ferry service; a look at the MTA's recovery and changes after a 2007 storm; and plenty of real estate, restaurant, and education scoops. I wrote thousands of stories for DNAinfo, where I shot all my own photos and also did additional video pieces to complement stories.I joined DNAinfo from NBC 4 New York in 2013, where I was the TV station's first social media editor and also worked as a web editor. While at NBC 4 I won two local Emmy awards, one national Emmy award and an Edward R. Murrow Award for team coverage of the shooting at the Empire State Building and Hurricane Sandy. I graduated from St. John's University and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, where I was selected as the student speaker at graduation. In another life I worked in film and television production, working on sets throughout the city.
