Claim your profileAs a broadcaster, I produced and directed television series and documentaries in a wide range of genres and on a great variety of subjects – from civil war in Central America, to the crisis in South Africa’s Apartheid system, to a series of portraits of colourful rural Canadian characters. For nearly a quarter century I held senior positions for the French and English networks of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC/Radio-Canada). From 2000 to 2005 I was the founding Director of Public Information for the Forum of Federations, a Canadian-based international network on federalism and decentralized governance, in which capacity I produced and co-wrote the educational documentaries “The Challenge of Diversity”, and "Learning About Federalism". From 2005 to 2010, I headed communications activities for the principal Canadian health statistics agency (CIHI) and the largest Canadian volunteer-sending international cooperation organization (Cuso International), and provided writing services and policy advice to non- governmental organizations, such as Tree Canada, and several Canadian government agencies (including the Canadian International Development Agency and the International Development Research Centre). In 2009, I wrote and co-directed the documentary film, “And Who Are You,” which was broadcast on the Rogers-Omni network. In the fall of 2010 my film “Never Come Back,” which depicts the oft-maligned Roma people of Europe and of Canada, was also broadcast on Omni and shown at a number of festivals. It was broadcast on CBC’s documentary channel in 2013. (Link to YouTube version, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E26XukmkMP8 ) Since the fall of 2011, I have been the first Canadian Parliamentary Correspondent for rabble.ca, an online, multi-platform news source. My regular reports delve into areas often ignored by mainstream media and are widely distributed on social media. (See a long list of recommendations for this work, below.)
