Joydeep has worked earlier in The Third Pole, Indo-Asian News Service, The Statesman, The Sunday Observer and Sunday Mail. He has covered the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and every UN climate summit since 2007, where he has also been a mentor for other journalists. Joydeep won the 2023 SEAL award for environmental journalism and the 2012 Green Globe Award at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit organized by The Energy and Resources Institute. He has a Masters degree in Environmental Economics and Environmental Management from the University of York (UK).
