Claim your profileWith an unusual blend of experience in broadcasting, nonprofit curriculum development, startup formation and digital media marketing, my love of people and consistent curiosity have all lent to my career journey thus far. I love presentation, writing, discussion… but I also love getting answers. My educational background includes a degree in International Relations with a focus on security and strategy and French from the University of Calgary and SciencesPo Paris. Currently, I am a journalist with CBC Windsor, filing for southwestern Ontario’s afternoon radio show. Additionally, I publish articles for CBC News online and appear on a weekly regional television segment, “Week’s End with Josiah.” My work has additionally appeared on nationally syndicated programming, including CBC’s “Canada Tonight” and “The National”, as well as presenting radio hits across the country. Prior to being a full-time journalist, I hosted my own podcast, “anticulture” for five seasons, eventually winning "Outstanding Society & Culture" at the 2021 Canadian Podcast Awards. I’ve guest hosted several CBC Radio programs. Prior to my current role, I held the title of Digital Lead for the media agency Arcade Studios, where I managed digital advertising campaigns up to 1M in revenue for a wide range of companies. I also played a hand in developing social media strategies, including actor John Krasinski’s pandemic movement, “Some Good News.” Additional projects include contributions to a nonprofit curriculum released in 2016 combatting infant and maternal mortality in the country of Sierra Leone, where I was based in West Africa for the project's duration. The curriculum is still being locally taught. Two years prior, I completed the co-operative education component of my degree at the Calgary Drop-In Center, developing a curriculum designed to bring low-income or homeless Calgarians back into the workforce. Talk to me about: international diplomacy, pop culture, local and national news, unanswered questions, geography, television, social media, something that gets you excited. We’d likely be quick friends upon meeting josiah.sinanan@gmail.com
