I have two decades of experience in deep-dive, fact-based reporting with a special interest in criminal justice, health care, and U.S. multi-national corporations operating in the forgotten corners of the world. If you have story ideas or are interested in working with me, feel free to contact me at jjones@revealnews.org or at (510) 501 - 5957. My recent projects include an in-depth investigations into the fertility industry for Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting and the assisted living industry for PBS Frontline and ProPublica. I also produced a feature length documentary into Firestone's operations in Liberia during the civil war and its relationship with Charles Taylor. I take on complex subjects fraught with risk and help raise awareness about the issues involved. I have spent my career developing story ideas and in-depth investigations. I want to reach the largest audience possible through print, radio, film, and interactive storytelling. I seek out strong narratives and human experiences to tell stories of injustice. I've worked with some of the finest investigative reporters in the world, learned from them, and refined my own approach to examining difficult topics. My father was a Presbyterian minister. My mother taught drama. I was born in Scotland and have lived in Washington D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Uganda, India, Thailand, and San Francisco. I am married to Anna Sussman, managing editor for the public radio show, Snap Judgment. I like to sing, dance and make people happy. According to my third-grade assessment, I work well with others. I love al pastor burritos, long bus rides through the hinterland, the Muppets, and the Golden State Warriors. If you're looking for a journalist who likes exaggerating, scandal-mongering, sensationalism, or navel-gazing, I am not your man.
